KAAN SENVER
FOR FILM & MEDIA
My path into composition began in high school at Robert College, where I wrote a full-scale musical that was staged at the Suna Kıraç Theater, establishing composition as my primary creative focus early on. I later graduated from the University of Rochester with a BA and a 3.96 GPA, during which I also studied composition at the Eastman School of Music, gaining hands-on experience with symphony orchestra writing—training that continues to shape my work as a composer for film and media today. This combination of early large-scale creative work and rigorous academic training defines my approach as disciplined, adaptable, and creatively reliable in professional collaborations.
The following audio is taken from a full-scale musical I composed during my senior year at Robert College, written for live stage performance and presented in its original musical context. The work reflects my early engagement with narrative structure, thematic development, and ensemble writing—foundational elements that were later refined through formal orchestral training and continue to inform my work as a composer for film and media.

love theme from Le Lys (the musical)
My exposure to the symphony orchestra played a defining role in shaping my compositional voice. Through focused study and hands-on orchestral writing, I developed a practical understanding of instrumental color, balance, and large-scale form—elements that remain central to my work for film and media. The examples below illustrate how orchestral thinking informs my approach to narrative, texture, and emotional pacing across different contexts.
The works below were composed as part of my ongoing professional development, reflecting my orchestral practice independent of commissioned or client-specific projects.

I work as a composer for film and media, with a primary focus on orchestral and narrative-driven music. My current practice centers on developing original works and applied cues that support storytelling, dramatic structure, and emotional pacing, spanning long-form orchestral writing, atmospheric soundscapes, and functional music for episodic television contexts.
